Paul Beaubien

Paul Joseph Aime Beaubien lost his courageous battle with cancer on December 30, 2023. In September of 2023, Paul was diagnosed with peritoneal mesothelioma from asbestos exposure.

Paul was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1951 to Raymond and Martha Beaubien. Paul spent his early years in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba as an electrical engineer. Shortly after his graduation, he moved to Edmonton where he had a very successful and respected career as an electrical engineer and businessman. He was a practicing engineer until April of 2012 when he retired. He enjoyed his retirement years and travelled around the world, including across Canada, Alaska, Australia and Europe. The last four years, he was thrilled to be able to spend time and make incredible memories with his grandson Colton.

Paul is survived by his wife, Gayle Hubbard, his children Matthew (Angela), Michelle (Doug Cockwill), Grandson (Colton), his first wife, Anne Beaubien, his 13 siblings and spouses. Marcel (Muriel), Arthur, Les (Gail), Ron (Thelma), Gerry (Teri), Charmaine (Bob Thiessen), Marie, Anita (Stan Groshak), Valerie (Giampaolo Moraglia), Marjorie (Don Halmarson), Yvonne (Keith Knowles), Rachelle (Dave Bardwell) and Raymond (Kitty). He is also survived by his in-laws Garry Hubbard (Irene), Hazel (Marshall Wolski), Roy Hubbard (Sylvia) and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his parents in 1987.

Paul was a gentle man with great compassion and was always ready and willing to help anyone. Many people referred to him as “Mr. Fix-It”. He enjoyed a challenge and was always up for any new adventure. He enjoyed the great outdoors and spent his free time skiing, hiking, backpacking, camping, sailing, travelling, kayaking and golfing. One of his favourite summer activities was pulling his fifth wheel trailer to Falcon Lake, Manitoba where he and Gayle enjoyed golfing, kayaking and visiting with various members of the family. Once he retired, he spent every winter in Arizona, honing his golf skills and making some very good friends.

His greatest love was family and friends. Nothing was more important to him than keeping a connection with all the people that were special to him.
